The earliest paper mill in our territory built in 1777, was located in Orange County near Hillsborough, North Carolina. Owned by John Hulgan, it used waterpower to pound rags into fibers. Purpose built to relieve the paper shortage caused by the Revolutionary War. Today, the paper industry in our territory is one of the largest in the country. The Carolinas provide an excellent source of the raw material used in production and infrastructure to transport the final product. Our client base ranges from corrugated paper production to fine paper used in newsprint.
